Efficient Continuity

In early 2020, Boulder County reorganized its departments to allow more efficient management and continuity of day-to-day operations. This shift meant that several affected departments now had work groups spread among various facilities.

Studiotrope was hired as a third party to examine the inter- and intra-departmental relationships and propose three space plan scenarios to accommodate the six departments and hundreds of staff affected by the County’s reorganization. All of these proposed renovations use existing facilities and strive to meet the County’s mission: “As stewards of Boulder County Future, we provide the best in Public Service.” As such, parking, ADA access and convenient co-locations are priorities in the proposed scenarios.

Services provided:
1) Office Space Programming including visioning, in-depth questionnaires and interviews with department representatives;
2) Office Space Planning Work Session Charrette;
3) Office and Public Facing Parking Assessment;
4) Final Document summarizing process, evaluation, and final proposed department space plans.

Three Space Plan Scenarios for each of the five buildings:
1) Utilize existing conditions;
2) Partial remodel;
3) Complete interior demolition and remodel.
