The Erie Community Library needed an addition/renovation to support its growing community; specifically, it sought to accommodate an increased need for gathering spaces indoors and outdoors. Studiotrope’s addition and site enhancements were designed to look as if they were part of the original building. The renovation refreshed and expanded the Children’s, Teen, Gathering, Meeting and Staff spaces. Meanwhile, the addition provided a 150+ person gathering space, a community maker space, and shaded outdoor plazas for children and adults. Studiotrope also took the opportunity to relocate programs (to better accommodate existing building circulation), separate noisy and quiet zones, and provide enhanced sight lines.
